As a junior, 2009: (Indoor Track): Recorded 8.64 meters in the shot put at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational and tallied 9.70m in the weight throw at the A-Sun Championship. (Outdoor Track): Competing in seven javelin throw events, McGuire was able to finish first at the Seminole Twilight with a throw of 39.04m and a second place finish in the UNF Osprey Challenge and FSU Relays … she left her mark at the A-Sun Championship recording her best javelin throw of the season (40.70m) and was nominated for an A-Sun Second Team All-Conference … broke UNF’s school record in the hammer throw with a 32.32m throw at the UNF Spring Break Open.
High School: Ashton did jumps and throws in high school in 10th grade through 12th… took All Region 1st team junior and senior year… she also played volleyball10th through 12th grade… won most improved athlete…team won the championship senior year.
Personal: Born May 5, 1987 in Casper, Wyoming, her hometown… daughter of Mike and Tammy McGuire…has one younger brother, Aaron; a younger sister Kristin; and an older sister, Megan… majoring in sport management
