Experience: Began career in the broadcast industry, first as a radio advertising salesperson for WAXT-FM and later as a sales manager with WLHN-FM/WHUT-AM in Anderson, Ind. ... made career moves to Bloomington, Ind. (WBWB-FM) and Fort Wayne, Ind. (WBYR-FM), working as a radio station general sales manager ... left the radio industry after 12 years to start an advertising/marketing agency, The Westin Group ... after a number of years, merged company with another local ad agency and later left to join the local NBC television affiliate in a managerial capacity ... left broadcasting altogether in 2002 to join the athletics department at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) as its first director of athletic marketing ... while at IPFW, introduced new marketing initiatives that provided additional revenue during the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I, in addition to increasing the booster club membership by 25 percent.
Personal: Born Feb. 15, 1958 ... native of Osgood, Ind. ... graduated from Ball State University (Muncie, Ind.) in 1980 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in radio and television arts and sciences, and again in 1986 with a master[apos]s degree in telecommunications and general business ... officiated high school and college basketball, volleyball, baseball and track and field for 25 years ... married to the former Kathy Bell for 17 years ... has a son, Westin, and a daughter, Hayley ... current member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators ... avid boating enthusiast.
