Experience: Worked five years in the newspaper industry, first as editor of the Auburn Plainsman during his senior year in college, then as sports editor, both at the Andalusia (Ala.) Star-News and Natchez (Miss.) Democrat, before returning home to work at his hometown paper - the Montgomery (Ala.)
