Experience: Secretary with the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C., for five years before moving to Gainesville, Fla., in 1975 ... while in Gainesville, worked as a secretary with the VA Hospital, Nursing Services Department ... was also a secretary at University of Florida Animal Science Department and Legal Aid Clinic ... was then a stay-at-home mom with three small children before going back to work with the Alachua County School District as Secretary of Littlewood Elementary School in 1988 ... during her 17-year career at Littlewood, recorded many accomplishments - including ACSB Employee of the Year - while most importantly making a difference in the lives of children and their families.

Personal: Born and raised in Fairfax, Va. ... graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Washington School For Secretaries ... attended Northern Virginia Community College ... traveled out West with her sister before they both moved to Gainesville, where she met her husband, John ... they have a son who is a paramedic and twin daughters that graduated from UNF, each with a bachelor[apos]s degree in nursing (BSN) in 2004 ... enjoys being outdoors, working in the yard, walking, playing tennis and swimming.
