JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team defeated non-conference opponent Middle Tennessee State, 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.

UNF (14-6) took the early 1-0 lead, winning two doubles matches to take the point from MTSU (9-11). The Ospreys secured a win in the No. 1 doubles as Daniel Sotomarino and Hleb Maslau teamed up to defeat Ben Davis and Shaun Waters, 8-3

In the No. 3 doubles, the Osprey pair, Leonardo Nahar and Pedro Davisson defeated Matthew Langley and Dimitri Pippos, 8-2.

The Ospreys continued their strong play, picking up three singles points. Maslau claimed a 6-6(3), 6-2 decision over Waters in the No. 1 singles while Sotomarino defeated Langley in straight sets with scores of 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 2.

UNF wrapped up the match with a win in the No. 5 as Nahar battled to three sets against Wishing. The MTSU player took the opening set, 6-4, but Nahar responded to win the next two sets with scores of, 6-0, 6-2.

The Ospreys will be back on the court on Sunday, April 10 when they make the short trip across town to face Atlantic Sun Conference rival, Jacksonville at 11 a.m. at the Watson Family Tennis Complex. It is the final conference game of the season for the two teams.
