Men's Tennis Advances To ASUN Championship Final With 4-1 Win Over FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Top-seeded North Florida Men's Tennis took down Florida Gulf Coast in the ASUN Semifinals, 4-1, in Fort Myers, Fla., on Friday morning to advance to the 2026 ASUN Championship Finals.Â
To kick off doubles play, freshman Aron Major and graduate student Andreas Scott cruised to a 6-1 win on the top court. Graduate student Breno Marques and sophomore Joao Portugal earned a dominant 6-1 win on court three to earn the doubles point and give the Ospreys an early lead.
With the win, Portugal improved to 10-3 on the year in doubles action and Marques improved to 12-7.
The Ospreys stayed competitive in singles play, securing the first set on courts three, four, five, and six, with courts three and five decided by tiebreakers.
After dropping his first singles set, Scott fought back to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. It marked Scott's ninth-consecutive singles win on the top court.
Marques increased UNF's lead to 3-0 with a 7-6(1), 6-2 triumph on court five.
FGCU would respond with their first singles win on court two to narrow the North Florida lead to 3-1.
Major clinched with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win on court six to send the Ospreys to the ASUN Championship Finals. Major improved to 14-3 in single play this season.
The top-seeded Ospreys will face No. 3 Stetson in the 2026 ASUN Men's Tennis Championship Finals on Saturday, April 18, at 9 a.m. ET.
