
Men’s Tennis to Close Regular Season with Four Straight

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team will close out the 2011 regular season with four matches in four days beginning with non-conference foe Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, April 9 at 2 p.m. UNF will make the short crosstown trip to face Atlantic Sun rival Jacksonville on Sunday, April 10 at 11 a.m. before returning home on Monday, April 11 for a 10 a.m. match against Memphis. The Ospreys will wrap the season on Tuesday, April 12 at No. 45 USF at 2 p.m.
UNF (13-6, 8-1 A-Sun) swept Florida Gulf Coast, 7-0 in the team's last match. The Ospreys claimed the doubles point and wins in all six singles matches.
Hleb Maslau has tallied a 14-5 mark this season while Moritz Buerchner is 13-3. Daniel Sotomarino is 12-7. All three players have seen action in the No. 1, 2 and 3 singles' matches. Leonardo Nahar is 11-8 while Pedro Davisson has posted a 10-8 mark on the season playing primarily in the No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. Beauregard Treyz is 9-9, seeing the most time in the No. 5.
Maslau and Sotomarino have teamed up all season in the No. 2 doubles and have posted a record of 17-2. Davisson and Nahar are 7-3 in the No. 3 doubles.
MTSU (9-10) defeated Louisiana-Lafayette, 4-3 the last time out. The Blue Raiders dropped the doubles point, but secured wins in the No. 1, 3, 4 and 6 singles as Shaun Waters, Ben Davis, Dimitri Pippos and Kyle Wishing claimed points.
Last season, the Ospreys defeated MTSU, 4-3 in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Buerchner, Maslau and Nahar all secured singles matches to help in the UNF victory.
The Dolphins (5-13, 3-6 A-Sun) are coming off a 5-2 loss to Stetson. Lance Lvovsky and Logan Shalmi secured points for JU, winning in the No. 3 and No. 6, respectively.
UNF is currently second in the A-Sun standings while the Dolphins are tied for seventh. With a win over the Dolphins, the Ospreys will claim the 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season title. In 2010, UNF defeated JU, 6-1.
Memphis (13-8) defeated Florida Atlantic, 4-1 in the Tigers' last match. The Tigers took the doubles point and claimed wins in the No. 2, 5 and 6 singles with Joe Salisbury, David Henry and Cedric de Zutter securing points.
The Ospreys defeated Memphis, 4-3 last season, winning four singles matches. Among this year's returnees, Buerchner and Nahar claimed wins in the No. 1 and No. 4, respectively.
UNF will close the regular season on the road against No. 45 South Florida (12-7). The Bulls fell, 5-2 to No. 33 Louisville the last time out. Federico Sabogal and Sebastian Hagn secured the points for USF. Leading the Bulls this season, is No. 73 Lucas Jovita. He is also ranked No. 58 in doubles with partner Jamal Adderley.
The Ospreys have already clinched a spot in the A-Sun Conference men's tennis championship held April 14-16. Stetson is hosting this year's tournament.
