JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team defeated Elon, 4-1, at the Duke University Indoor Tennis Facility in Durham, N.C. Inclement weather in North Carolina forced the match indoors.

UNF improves to 4-2 on the season while the Phoenix fall to 0-5.

Freshman Taylor Albrecht secured the match for the Ospreys with a win in the No. 2 singles match. He defeated 2009 All-Southern Conference selection Chase Helpingstine, 7-6 (5), 6-3.

In No. 1 singles, freshman Moritz Buerchner downed Philip Nemec, 6-4, 6-3. Junior Hleb Maslau picked up a hard-fought, three set win at the No. 3 spot. He defeated Alberto Rojas, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. Nemec and Rojas were both 2009 All-SoCon selections.

The Ospreys also captured a win at No. 6, as senior Kurt Gattiker defeated Cody MacDowell, 6-4, 6-1.

The match was decided with singles decisions, so doubles were not played.

UNF will face Winthrop on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. in Rock Hill, S.C.
