UNF lifted its home record to 8-3 with a 4-3 win against Campbell
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On Senior Day and International Day at the UNF Tennis Complex, Argentina native and senior Federico Levi led the way with a straight-set singles win for the University of North Florida to help the Ospreys post a 4-3 Atlantic Sun Conference victory over Campbell in the team's last go at home of the season.
“It is nice to finish off play at home with a win,” UNF head coach Igal Buberman said. “It makes it even better to do it against a team that beat us last year. Now, we need to bring our top game into our season finale at Jacksonville to repeat this result.”
Levi made quick work of his opponent Davy Sum by a 6-2, 6-1 score to set the pace for the Ospreys (10-8, 5-4 A-Sun). His win pushed the overall match score to 2-0 after UNF took two of three doubles matches. Campbell (11-8, 3-4) notched its lone singles win at the No. 1 position.
Only one other singles match concluded in straight sets with the Camels clutching that decision. Loukas Wallart knocked off junior Kurt Gattiker in the fifth slot, and four matches needed the extra frame for a winner to be declared.
Sophomore Graham Edgar provided the result that sealed the Osprey win, taking the second and third sets against Beto Modini. He slipped 7-5 in the opening set but notched two 6-3 set scores to lift UNF's home record to 8-3 this season. Freshman Marcos Chiaretti also overcame dropping the first set when he soared to a 6-2 second-set score and a 6-1 final-set score.
UNF will conclude its season in a heated cross-town match Wednesday when it goes to Jacksonville to battle for a SunTrust River City Rumble point.
