JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (1-2) fell in their first midweek game of the 2024 season, being run-ruled in seven innings, 10-0, to No. 4/3 Florida (1-1) on Tuesday evening. Despite the loss, Harmon Stadium was the place to be, as it drew over 2,500 fans for the second-largest crowd in program history.
Florida scored early thanks to a Jac Caglianone two-run home run in the first. UNF starter
Tony Roca was unable to complete the first inning before being replaced by
Lance Bolton. Luke Heyman added another run in the second inning, which extended the Gator lead.
A second-inning
Matthew Clements single got the Ospreys in the hit column. UF would make it a four to nothing game on a wild pitch from
Will Ohme. They would add another three runs in the fifth, two off a Caglianone double.
The Gators would put up another one in the sixth and two in the seventh to get their run total to double digits. The total would be enough to secure a run-rule victory, as the Ospreys mustered only two hits in the losing effort.
