
Top-Seeded Baseball Falls To No. 3-Seeded FGCU To Conclude ASUN Championship Run

DELAND, Fla. - Top-seeded North Florida Baseball dropped its elimination game at the ASUN Championship against No. 3-seeded FGCU, 3-1, at Melching Field on Friday.
Redshirt sophomore outfielder Carter White and junior infielder Mitchell Collins led the way offensively with a pair of multi-hit performances.Â
Collins went 2-4 with one RBI, two stolen bases and one walk. Collins closed out his 2026 season with 17 multi-hit games. He notched a hit in 33 of 47 total games played this season.
White went 2-3 with one stolen base. It marked White's 14th multi-hit game this season. He registered a hit in 38 of his 52 total games played this season.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Trevor Nikolis delivered a sensational start on the mound for North Florida. Nikolis dealt 5.0 shutout innings and allowed just two hits and two walks while posting three strikeouts.Â
It marked Nikolis' sixth shutout appearance this season in 16 total appearances.
The Eagles opened the scoring with one run in the top of the sixth inning.
Collins helped tie the game in the bottom of the sixth frame with a fielder's choice to the infield, plating redshirt junior utility player Jackson Schrafft from third base.
Florida Gulf Coast hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, bringing the score to its eventual final margin.
