Osprey Offense Recorded Nine Hits in Road Opener

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (1-3) dropped their third straight game, as they lost, 13-4, against No. 4/3 Florida (2-1) in its road opener on Wednesday evening.

North Florida fell behind early but kept the game close up until the eighth inning. The Gator bats came alive late and helped put the game out of reaching, giving Florida its second consecutive win over the Ospreys in as many days.

Florida scored two in the first, as the inning was extended by a Cade Bush error. They would add another in the second inning on a Jac Caglianone RBI single. Drew Leinenbach would save a run from scoring in the third, making an incredible sliding catch in right-center field, and throwing out Tyler Shelnut, who was trying to get back to first.

The Gators would start to pull away, adding four more runs in the fourth inning to lead seven to nothing. North Florida would get a spark from pitcher Clayton Boroski. Boroski would twirl an inning and a third of shutout ball while striking out two.

North Florida would begin to claw back in the sixth inning. Matthew Clements would plate the first run on a groundout, which was followed by RBI base hits from Tyler Gerteisen and Drew Leinenbach. Cade Bush would pick up an RBI in the seventh, scoring Jabin Bates on a single.

The bullpen would then falter the rest of the way, as Florida scored a run in the seventh and five in the eighth. Michael Robertson's two-run double was the dagger for the Ospreys in Gainesville, Fla.
