
Men’s Tennis Wraps Home Slate with 4-3 Win Over Memphis

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team wrapped up the 2011 home schedule with a 4-3 win over non-conference foe Memphis on Monday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
UNF (16=6) fell behind 1-0 after losing the doubles point to the Tigers (14-8) to start the match.
The Ospreys responded in singles play, picking up wins in the No. 1, 2. 3 and 6 singles. In his final home match for UNF, senior Hleb Maslau picked up a 6-2, 7-6(1) win over David O'Hare in the No. 1.
In the No. 2, UNF sophomore Moritz Buerchner took Joe Salisbury to three sets. The Ospreys' player claimed the first set, 6-4, but fell in the second, 6-4. Buerchner rallied back in the final set for a 6-4 win to secure the match.
Sophomore Daniel Sotomarino also had a tough three set match in the No. 3 against Leon Nasemann. The Tigers won the first set 6-4, but Sotomarino responded to take sets two and three with scores of 6-4, 6-3.
In the No. 6, sophomore Leonardo Nahar claimed a 6-4, 6-4 decision over John Taylor.
The Ospreys will wrap-up the regular season schedule on Tuesday, April 12 at No. 45 South Florida beginning at 2 p.m. Following that match the Ospreys will open the 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Tennis Championship on Friday, April 15 as the No. 1 seeded team in the field.
