
Men’s Tennis Heads to Nashville for Two Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team will travel to Nashville, Tenn. to face a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference opponents, beginning with Lipscomb on Friday, March 25 at 2 p.m. (EST) followed by Belmont on Saturday, March 26 in an 11 a.m. (EST) contest.
The Ospreys (9-6, 4-1 A-Sun) are coming off a 7-0 sweep over Kennesaw State the last time out. UNF won all the doubles and singles matches as Hleb Maslau, Morits Buerchner, Daniel Sotomarino, Leonardo Nahar, Pedro Davisson and Beauregard Treyz claimed wins.
Maslau, Buerchner and Sotomarino all have 10 wins on the season in singles matches with Maslau and Sotomarino tallying records of 10-5 while Buerchner is 10-3. Nahar has a mark of 8-7 in singles play and Davisson is 7-7. Treyz has posted a 6-9 record this season. Sotomarino and Maslau have teamed up in doubles play all season and have a 13-2 overall record in the No. 2 to lead the team in doubles.
Lipscomb (6-6, 3-2 A-Sun) defeated Florida Gulf Coast, 4-3 in the previous match. The Bison secured the doubles point earlier while Oliver Strecker, David Salazar and Miguel Cortez claimed points in singles play.
UNF defeated Lipscomb, 6-1 during the 2010 season. The Bison finished 11th last season in the A-Sun, but are currently sixth in the league standings, having picked up wins over Mercer, Kennesaw State and FGCU.
Belmont (0-8, 0-5 A-Sun) fell to Stetson, 5-2 the last time out. The Bruins' took the doubles point and their No. 1 singles player, Rodrigo Amaral also secured a point for the team.
The Ospreys claimed a 6-1 win over the Bruins last season. Belmont finished seventh during the A-Sun regular season in 2010.
Following the weekend road trip, the Ospreys will be back at home April 1-2, hosting Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast, respectively.
