JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No. 72 ranked University of North Florida men's tennis team fell in non-conference action to No. 3 (NCAA Div. II) Armstrong Atlantic, 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Pirates (8-0) got off to a strong start picking up the doubles point. UNF (5-3) looked to make a move in the singles matches, securing a win at the No. 2 as sophomore Daniel Sotomarino defeated No. 4 ranked Mikk Irdoja in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2

UNF also secured a point at the No. 6 with freshman Pedro Davisson defeating Pedro Scocuglia, 6-1, 6-2.

UNF had a pair of three set battles at the No. 1 and No. 3 singles. In the No. 1, sophomore Moritz Buerchner faced off against No. 2 Eudaldo Bonet. Buerchner picked up a 4-6 win in the first set, but fell 7-6 (3) in the second. Bonet went on to claim the final set, 7-5.

Senior Hleb Maslau squared off against No. 13 Rafael Array at No. 3 with Maslau securing the first set, 6-4. Array went on to take the second two sets with scores of 6-1, 7-6 (1).

The Ospreys will return to the court when they host defending Atlantic Sun Conference champions, East Tennessee State on Friday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex.
