JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida men's tennis remained unbeaten in ASUN conference action with a 7-0 sweep over Austin Peay at UNF Tennis Complex on Sunday.
North Florida posted its third doubles win in conference action with victories at the two and three lines. Freshman tandem
Jean Deloziere and
Joao Portugal took the two slot, 6-1, before freshman pair
Gianluca Filoramo and
Lorenzo Messina added a 6-4 win at the third position to clinch the point.
The Ospreys immediately secured the momentum in singles action with straight-set wins on five of six singles courts. Freshman
Youssef Labbene took 12 of 13 points at the third position to win 6-1, 6-0 before junior
Andreas Scott added a 6-1, 6-1 win at one. Freshman
Jean Deloziere clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the four line.
Messina added a 6-3, 6-2 win at the six slot and sixth year
Bruno Vietri claimed the third-set 10-point tiebreaker to win 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) at the two spot.
Sophomore
Chase Healey recorded his 10th singles win of the season with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 win on the five line. He is the first Osprey to reach double-digit wins in singles action this season.
North Florida remains home at UNF Tennis Complex next weekend to host Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson on Friday and Sunday, April 4 and 6.
