
Men's Tennis Grabs Gritty Road Win At Stetson, 4-3

DELAND, Fla. – North Florida Men's Tennis earned a gritty 4-3 road win at Stetson in Deland, Fla., on Saturday afternoon.Â
Stetson grabbed an early lead claiming the doubles point with wins on court two and three.Â
North Florida responded by winning the first set on courts one, three, four and six.
Sophomore Joao Portugal earned a 6-4, 6-2 win on court four to begin singles play and tie the game. He moved to 12-5 this season in singles.
On the top court, graduate student Andreas Scott picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory on court one to give the Ospreys their first lead of the match. Scott has won six-consecutive matches on the top singles court.
After Stetson evened the match with a win on court two, freshman Kyle Piqueras earned a 6-4, 7-6 win on court three to put UNF back in front.
Freshman Aron Major would clinch the match for North Florida with a hard fought 7-6, 7-5 win on court six. With the win, Major improved to a team-best 12-3 in singles play this season.
Stetson would earn a singles win on court five to reach the eventual final.
North Florida is set to travel to Fort Myers, Florida, for the 2026 ASUN Men's Tennis Championship, hosted by FGCU, with play beginning on April 14.
