FORT MYERS, Fla. – North Florida Men's Tennis secured a 4-1 road win against Florida Gulf Coast at FGCU Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.

Freshman Riccardo Ciulli and sophomore Youssef Labbene earned a 6-4 win on court two to open doubles action. Trailing 4–2 on court three, graduate student Breno Marques and junior Enrique Pena stormed back to force a tiebreaker and secure the doubles point for North Florida with a 7-6(4) victory. The pair improved to 3-0 this season with the win.

North Florida had a strong start in singles play when it secured the first set on court one, two, four and six.

Graduate student Andreas Scott cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win on the top court to extend the lead. FGCU grabbed its lone singles win on court three, but North Florida quickly answered when sophomore Joao Portugal collected a convincing 6-2, 6-3 triumph on court four, and Major clinched the match with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 triumph on court six.

With the win, Major improved to a team-best 11-2 this season in singles and 8-1 on court six. Portugal moved to 11-4 this spring in singles action.

North Florida continues its four-match road swing on Sunday, March 29 with a match against Stetson at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center at 2 p.m. ET.
