
Men’s Tennis Opens Spring Slate at FSU Invite

Weekend Invite Features Eight Teams
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The 2019 spring slate begins for men's tennis when it travels to the Tallahassee for the FSU Invite Saturday, Jan. 12 through Sunday, Jan. 13.
UNF began the spring season at the same invitational a year ago, facing Florida A&M, Furman and Georgia State in the eight-team invite. This year's field features host Florida State, New Orleans, UAB, Florida A&M, Louisiana, Nebraska and FAU.
The Ospreys open with Louisiana at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Win or loss North Florida will play at 2 p.m. later that day, facing either Nebraska or the Owls of Florida Atlantic. Championship, third place, fifth place and seventh place contests will be held Sunday, with the earliest first serve commencing at 10 a.m.
The defending ASUN champion Ospreys bring a group of five newcomers in Charley Castaing, senior Sahil Deshmukh, sophomore Nilo Duarte, sophomore Joe Ellis and senior Till Von Winning. Newcomers Dominik Barton, Federico Nani and Jorge Nunez will see their first spring contests in the Navy and Gray.
ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll
The North Florida Men's Tennis program was tabbed with the top spot in the 2019 ASUN Men's Tennis Preseason Coaches poll, receiving 63 overall points and seven first place votes. FGCU was slotted second with 52 points, while ASUN newcomer Liberty received one first place vote and 47 points overall.
