@OspreyWTen Shuts Out USC Upstate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - North Florida women's tennis continued its Atlantic Sun schedule with a 7-0 victory at USC Upstate on Saturday morning at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
"Today was another good day from the entire team," said head coach Audra Cohen. "We were able to work on a few things in match situations. Overall, I am happy with how well we focused on development this week and we are going back to Jacksonville a better, stronger team."
UNF moves to 7-5 on the season and 2-0 in league play. USC Upstate is still searching for its first win with a 0-15 mark.
The Ospreys took the doubles points after wins in te No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Luise Intert and Rafaela Gomez grabbed a 6-4 win along with a 6-1 victory from Michelle Valdez and Mariella Calderon.
In singles play, UNF ran the board. In the No. 1 position, Noemi Hemmerich won, 6-3, 6-3, while doubles partner Quetzali Vazquez won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 spot. Valdez fought off her opponent in thhe No. 2 spot, but took the, 6-4, 6-1 win and doubles partner, Calderon, dropped just one set in her No. 6 spot. In the No. 3 position, Gomez dropped a set in each game to take the win, while Intert won 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 4 match.
North Florida now returns back to Jacksonville to continue league action and play its next five matches at the UNF Tennis Complex. Lipscomb is on the docket first on Thursday, March 31 at 2 p.m.
