Women's Tennis Dominates FIU To Remain Unbeaten, 4-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Tennis remained undefeated at 18-0 when it cruised past FIU, 4-1, at UNF Tennis Complex on Friday.

North Florida swept the doubles point with wins at the one and two lines. At one, senior Laurie Barendse and graduate Isabel Oliveira turned in a quick win, 6-1. Sophomore Gabby Goyins and senior Jasmin Makela clinched the doubles point for North Florida with a win at two, 6-0. Neither doubles pair trailed at one or two for North Florida en route to a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Ospreys were forced to battle back in singles action, and did so in a big way. North Florida trailed in the first set of singles on courts one, four and five. However, a dominant win by Oliveira on court two, 6-5, 6-1, allowed UNF to earn a 2-1 lead.

Graduate Anslee Long extended North Florida's advantage with a win on court six, 7-5, 6-3. As North Florida led 3-1 in the match, it needed to earn a victory on either court one, four or five. From there, Goyins delivered a clutch come-from-behind win at five 4-6, 6-0, 6-2, to clinch the match.
