
Women's Tennis Improves To 20-0 With Road Win Over FGCU, 4-3

FORT MYERS, Fla. – North Florida Women's Tennis remained the only undefeated Division I team in the nation and improved to 20-0 when it defeated FGCU, 4-3, at FGCU Tennis Complex on Friday.
Senior Laurie Barendse and graduate student Isabel Oliveira earned the first of two doubles wins for North Florida with a 6-3 victory at the one line. Graduate student Anslee Long and sophomore Aryana Bartlett secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at the two to give North Florida a 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles, Barendse turned in a two-set victory at one, 6-0, 7-5, to give North Florida a 2-1 advantage. Oliveira added UNF's second straight two-set singles victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the two line.
FGCU secured wins on courts five and six to tie the match, 3-3.
Bartlett earned a first-set win at three but was forced to play a third. Due to an injury at three, FGCU was forced to retire with the third set tied, 5-5. Due to that retirement, North Florida won the match, 4-3.Â
