SPARTANBURG, S.C. - North Florida men's tennis heads to USC Upstate to being conference action on Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex which will serve as host of the 2016 A-Sun Tennis Championship.
UNF looks to bounce back from a tough 4-3 loss to No. 67 ETSU on Wednesday. The Ospreys are 3-8 on the season with six of their losses coming against nationally-ranked opponents. North Florida has won the last four meetings between the teams including a 4-3 victory in Jacksonville in 2015.
Yannick Zuern paces the team with 13 total singles wins and is 5-5 in dual matches and most recently moved into the No. 1 position after an injury to Jack Findel-Hawkins has held him out of competition. Sophomore Lasse Muscheites is currently on a four-match win streak and has two wins at each of the No. 2-4 positions. In doubles play, Muscheities and Goldberg hold an 8-5 mark including winning six of their last 10.
The Spartans are 3-8 on the season and recently snapped a four-match losing steak with a 6-1 victory at Chattanooga. USC Upstate finished third in the Atlantic Sun last season with a 4-2 mark, but went 7-16 overall. Jamie Yates has a team-best 7-2 mark in dual matches and has paired with five different partners in doubles play to post a 3-5 mark. Matt Bennion owns four doubles wins.
After one conference contest, UNF hosts Georgia State on Friday, March 18 at 6 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Courts.
