DeLand, Fla. – North Florida (6-8-2) will be on the road take on Stetson (8-6-2) in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Championship, at 3 p.m. The first-round matchup between the Hatters and the Ospreys will be streamed live on Stetson's Hatter Vision.
Â
Ospreys Back in the Postseason: North Florida will make its third straight appearance in the ASUN playoffs. The Ospreys have been knocked out in the first round the previous two seasons. North Florida suffered a heart-breaking loss to Jacksonville last season when they were eliminated in penalty kicks, 6-5. In five appearances in the ASUN postseason, the Ospreys made their deepest run in 2012 when they advanced to the semifinals but eventually fell to second-seeded Mercer, 3-0.
Overtime Rematch: The Ospreys fell to the Hatters on Oct. 15 in a thrilling 3-2 overtime defeat earlier this season. North Florida's Tori Hammel scored the first goal of the game in the seventh minute, but Stetson answered just four minutes later tying the game at 1-1. Osprey forward, Krista Colubiale, netted a goal for North Florida in the 28th minute to give the Ospreys the lead going into halftime. The second half was scoreless until the 75th minute when Sarah Collins, the Hatters leading goal scorer, recorded her second goal of the game, tying the game up for the second time. Stetson scored in the second minute of overtime off a corner kick, handing the Ospreys their first overtime loss of the season.  Â
All-Conference Nods: The Ospreys top-two scorers, senior Alexis Bredeau and sophomore Krista Colubiale were both listed on the 2016 ASUN All-Conference Second Team. Bredeau was honored for the first time in her career while Colubiale was listed for the second-straight year. Freshman Lorena Cedeno became the fourth Osprey in the last three years to land on the league's All-Freshman Team.
All-Time Series: North Florida will be looking to even the all-time series against Stetson, after dropping the matchup between the two team earlier this season. The Hatters own the series with a 7-6 lead with each team grabbing a win in the last two meetings. The previous eight matchups have been decided by one goal, including the only other postseason meeting between the teams when Stetson defeated North Florida, 1-0 back in 2010.
About Stetson: The Hatters come into the weekend having dropped their final two conference matches of the season to FGCU, 1-2, and Jacksonville, 2-3. Stetson is making its second straight appearance in the ASUN Tournament after coming up short in the semifinal last season, suffering a 5-0 defeat at the hands of FGCU. Stetson has rallied behind their junior forward, Sarah Collins, who leads the team in goals (11), assists (6) and points (28). Collins has been named the ASUN Player of the Week twice this season, and is second in the conference in goals scored and points recorded, behind FGCU's Tabby Tindell.
