ORLANDO, Fla. – North Florida Women's Soccer dropped a hard-fought match at UCF, 1-0, on Thursday, Sept. 10, at UCF Soccer Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Fifth year goalkeeper Sofia Miliancano grabbed a pair of early saves in the fifth and seventh minute to keep UCF off the board. She would secure three first-half saves highlighted by a diving save off a UCF free kick in the 27th minute.

Miliancano would end the contest with a season-high six saves which marked her sixth career match with at least five saves.

The Knights would grab the lead with a goal in the 34th minute to take a 1-0 advantage.

Junior midfielder Taylor Tamares would fire off a shot on goal that was saved by the keeper in the 49th minute of action, and sophomore forward Chandler Browning threatened with a shot that was just off target in the 61st minute.

Junior forward Allison Souers led the Ospreys with three shots including a shot on goal that was saved by the goalkeeper in the 76th minute.

Overall, UNF would fire off seven shots in the second half of play.

Freshman defender Layla Melton made her first collegiate start for the Ospreys.

Overall, 18 Ospreys logged action with Miliancano, senior defender Zoe Looker and junior midfielder Sarah Frazer each playing the full 90.

North Florida returns to Hodges Stadium to close out non-conference play against Kennesaw State on Thursday, Sept. 17. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
