TULSA, Okla. – University of North Florida men's tennis begins competition in the premier fall tennis tournament, kicking off the 2014 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships on Saturday.

"We are battling a lot of injuries, but we're excited to attend the toughest tournament you can play in college tennis this fall," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "I'm excited for our team to experience the event and see how they handle the challenge. We have some serious talent on this roster, so anything can happen."

Five Ospreys start their tournament play with Saturday's Pre-Qualifying Rounds. Alberto De Meo, Lasse Muscheites, Julian Bradley, Zach Goldberg and Yannick Zuern each have first matches. The five will battle for a chance to advance to the Qualifying Singles Round that starts on Monday.

Two Ospreys – Jack Findel-Hawkins and Norbert Nemcsek – are already slated for the three-day Qualifying Singles Round. Participants in Qualifying Singles are competing for a spot into the Main Draw that is Oct. 2-6.

Two UNF team will play in the doubles competition. Zuern and Muscheites are in the Qualifying Round, vying for a spot in the Main Draw. Meanwhile, by earning a No. 15 ranking in the Sept. 8 Preseason ITA Rankings, Findel-Hawkins and Nemcsek will play in the Main Draw.

"It is encouraging to see Jack and Norbert automatically selected for the Main Draw," said Finnegan. "Over the next nine days, there should be some great tennis played."

Saturday begins at 9 a.m., for the Ospreys with De Meo's and Bradley's matches. Zuern and Goldberg are scheduled to play at 11:30 a.m., while Muscheites match is at Noon. Second round of Pre-Qualifying takes place later on Saturday afternoon.
