Main Draw Doubles Consolation
Â
TULSA, Okla. – University of North Florida men's tennis 15th-rank duo of Jack Findel-Hawkins and Norbert Nemcsek forced a third set, but could not pull off the upset of No. 2 Ross Guignon and Tim Kopinski of Illinois in the Main Draw Doubles Consolation Quarterfinals at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Â
"You win some and you lose some. Yesterday, we had a better ending and today, we came up just short," said assistant coach Malte Stropp. "Jack and Norbert played a really good match and showed that they can compete with every team in the country. I hope they learn something from this tournament and will come back stronger in the future."
Â
After falling 7-6 in a tie break in the first set, Findel-Hawkins and Nemcsek rebounded with a 6-3 win in the second set in order to take the match into a third set tie break. However, Guignon and Kopinski held on to win the final set 12-10.
Â
The loss concludes UNF's competition at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships. The Ospreys return to action in two weeks at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Athens, Ga.
