Men's Tennis' Edgar Receives 2012 Wilson/ITA National Promoter of the Year Award

SKILLMAN, N.J. – University of North Florida men's tennis' Graham Edgar was selected as the 2012 Wilson/ITA National Promoter of the Year Award, recipient of the Varsity Student-Athlete honor, the ITA announced on Thursday.
The Wilson/ITA National Promoter of the Year Award recognizes individuals who promote the game of tennis at the collegiate level by devoting consistent time and effort to promotional activities and who support and bring awareness to either their school program or the sport as a whole. Two categories have been established – Varsity Team Managers and Varsity Student-Athletes – with only one individual from each category being selected to receive a paid summer internship at Wilson's global headquarters in Chicago, Ill.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to work and learn at the offices of the No. 1 brand in tennis, Wilson Sporting Goods,” said Edgar. “I want to thank Wilson and the ITA for providing this world class internship. I feel very honored to be selected from so many great student-athletes and can't wait to represent my team at North Florida.”
A first-year student in UNF's MBA program, Edgar wrapped up his collegiate playing career this spring. He overcame an injury that kept him out for the 2011 season and threatened to end his playing career. In his final season, Edgar earned a spot in the singles and doubles lineup for UNF, helping the team break into the Campbell/ITA Men's Team Rankings Top-50 earlier this season.
“This is a proud moment for UNF Tennis,” said head coach Adam Schaechterle. “Graham is a special young man, and the recognition he received by being selected as the only student-athlete in the country to receive this award is well-deserved. The honor is the culmination of his hard work in the classroom and on the court throughout his career.”
