RADFORD, Va. – No. 61 University of North Florida men's tennis team wraps up its road swing on Monday, March 14 in a non-conference match at the Big South's Radford. Match time is set for 9 a.m. at the Radford University Tennis Center in Radford, Va.
UNF (7-4) is looking to back bounce after falling to Campbell, 5-2 in the team's last outing. The Ospreys grabbed the doubles point early as Daniel Sotomarino and Hleb Maslau teamed up at the No. 2 and Leonardo Nahar and Pedro Davisson paired up at the No. 3 for wins. UNF struggled in singles play with Sotomarino securing the lone singles' point for UNF in the No. 2 match.
Radford (10-3) is riding a six match win streak into Monday's contest. The Highlanders defeated Tulane, 5-2 the last time out, winning the doubles point and following that up with singles' wins by Ivan Salec, Igor Ogrizek, Stijn Meulemans and Thomas Dehaen.
RU's Salec is currently ranked No. 67 in the most recent ITA singles standings. He, along with Ogrizek and Dehaen claimed first team All-Big South honors last season as the Highlanders finished as the Big South regular season champions, but fell to Winthrop in the league title match.
Last season, the Highlanders secured a 5-2 win over the Ospreys in Radford.
Following Monday's match, the Ospreys will return to Jacksonville for a non-conference match against Winthrop on Wednesday, March 16 at 2 p.m. The Ospreys will also host a pair of Atlantic Sun matches beginning with Mercer on Friday, March 18 at noon. UNF will follow that up with a home match against Kennesaw State on Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m.
