Men’s Tennis to End Regular Season on the Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team is set to end the regular season with a pair of non-conference matches. The Ospreys will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to face host team Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 10. On Sunday, April 11, UNF will face Memphis at 10 a.m.

UNF (16-7) is coming off a 6-1 win over crosstown, Atlantic Sun rival Jacksonville in its last outing. The Ospreys secured the doubles point before winning five of the six singles matches.

Freshman Daniel Sotomarino and senior Kurt Gattiker are both 12-4 on the season. Sotomarino has seen time in the No. 1-4 singles, but has played the most matches at No. 4 where he is 5-2. Gattiker has played primarily at No. 6 and has posted a record of 10-4 in that position.

Junior transfer Hleb Maslau has amassed a 16-7 record, playing primarily at No. 3 where he has a 7-2 record. Freshmen Moritz Buerchner and Taylor Albrecht are 12-8 and 13-8 on the season, respectively. Buerchner has played the most matches at No. 1 (9-4) while Taylor primarily saw time at No. 2 (8-4) this season. Freshman Leonardo Nahar is 8-4 at No. 5.

MTSU (4-17) is coming off a 4-3 loss to UL-Lafayette. The Blue Raiders will face Memphis on Friday before playing UNF on Saturday. MTSU has faced 12 nationally ranked teams this season. The Blue Raiders' No. 1 player, John Peers is currently ranked No. 28 in the ITA singles rankings and has a 15-3 record in duals this spring.

Memphis (9-9) defeated Southern Miss, 4-3 in its last outing. Charlie Ramsey and David Henry lead the Tigers on the season with records of 8-8 and 8-9, respectively. Ramsey is 3-5 at No. 1 while Henry is 6-3 at No. 3.

Following the weekend, the Ospreys will be back in action Thursday, April 15 through Saturday, April 17 at the Atlantic Sun Championship in DeLand, Fla.
