UNF looks to right ship at Mercer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's tennis team will try to rebound after a tough stretch of matches this weekend with duals against Mercer.

The Ospreys have lost three-straight conference matches and four consecutive overall. The Ospreys lost 5-2 to USC Upstate and 7-0 to No. 33 ETSU last weekend. Both junior Javier Ferrin and senior Eduardo Pereira picked up singles wins over Upstate.

Mercer is on a four-match losing streak and has lost its last three conference matches. The Bears lost 7-0 to No. 67 Stetson and 5-2 to Florida Gulf Coast last weekend.

Friday at Mercer (2 p.m.)

Who's Hot: Junior Javier Ferrin has won two of his last three matches for UNF. He is 6-2 in Atlantic Sun Conference matches and 18-11 overall.

UNF Notables: The Ospreys have never lost a set to Mercer since joining the A-Sun in 2006, winning both matches 7-0 in Jacksonville … the Ospreys are 25-23 in A-Sun singles matches this season … UNF has struggled with success in doubles, but the team of Pereira and Kurt Gattiker has gelled nicely for a 15-6 overall record.
