Ospreys fall in tough battle

UNF goes to third set in four singles matches
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team took Campbell to the final set in four singles matches, but in the end it wasn't close enough in a 6-1 loss on Friday.
Junior Javier Ferrin picked up UNF's lone win in the No. 2 singles match with his 6-4, 6-1 tally over Campbeel Larbi Lamzouri. The victory helped Ferrin to bring his conference record to 5-1.
After handily defeating Campbell's Davy Sum in the first set of his No. 1 singles match, senior Eduardo Pereira dropped the next two sets 6-4, 6-2. At No. 3, freshman Graham Edgar took the second set 6-3 against Campbell's Gabriel Delarue after falling in the first set 6-1. But Edgar had trouble finishing strong and lost the final set 6-1.
In the No. 4 singles match, sophomore Kurt Gattiker got off to a solid start, winning the first set 6-4 against the Camels' Marc Sifre. But Sifre got the best of him in the final two sets by scores of 6-4, 6-4. Freshman Adrian Escarate also started fast in his No. 5 match with a 6-4 first set win, but he was not able to keep the momentum and dropped the final two sets to Campbell's Loukas Wallaart, 6-3, 6-1.
UNF (9-7, 3-3 Atlantic Sun Conference) lost all three of its doubles matches for the first time since Feb. 9 against Troy. The Ospreys will return to action next Friday at 2 p.m. against USC Upstate at the UNF Tennis Complex.
