Men's Tennis Secures Senior Day Sweep Over Lipscomb

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Men's Tennis cruised to a 7-0 Senior Day sweep over Lipscomb in its final home match of the year at UNF Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.
With the win, North Florida improved to 10-7 overall and finished 10-3 at home this season.
After the conclusion of the match, seniors Breno Marques and Andreas Scott were recognized for Senior Day.
Scott paired up with freshman Aron Major to collect a 6-3 win on court one to begin doubles play. Marques and junior Enrique Pena improved to 2-0 as a duo with a 6-2 win on court three to clinch the doubles point. Pena improved to 4-0 in doubles play this spring.
The Ospreys continued their aggressive play capturing the first set on four of the six singles courts.
Marques earned a 6-4, 6-0 win on court five to extend the UNF lead. Scott added on to the UNF lead with a convincing win on court one, 6-2, 6-2.
Sophomore Youssef Labbene clinched the match for North Florida with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory on court two.
After dropping his first set, freshman Kyle Piqueras fought back for a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0[4] win on court three. Extending the Osprey lead to 6-0, Major took court six, 6-4, 6-4. With the win, he improved to a team-best 10-2 in dual singles play and 7-1 at the number six position.
Sophomore Joao Portugal fell in his opening singles set, but Portugal battled back to win his second set and the super tiebreaker set for a gritty win court four, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0[12] to secure the sweep for UNF.
