Biography

As a freshman, 2007-08: Finished 11-8 overall, including 10-6 in duals ... posted a 6-4 record against the Atlantic Sun Conference ... went 4-1 at No. 4 singles ... teamed up with Javier Ferrin to go 13-5 in doubles ... had a six-match win streak that included victories over Hofstra, College of Charleston, Lipscomb, Belmont, Gardner-Webb and Stetson ... picked up a straight set win over No. 75 Stetson's Christopher Swanteso (3/6).

High School: Played four seasons at Miami Killian High School under head coach Scott Bruce ... team wom district and regional titles his freshman, sophomore and juniors seasons ... KHS won class 4A state title in 2005 (his sophomore season) after finishing as state runner-up a year earlier ... Escarate advanced to the individual doubles final his junior season ... team also won the 2004-05 GMAC title ... was team captain as a junior and senior ... earned all-district honors all four seasons ... named second-team all-state as a sophomore and junior ... missed most of his senior season with an injury.

Other Experience: Began playing competitive tennis at age 8 ... Competed in numerous junior tournaments, including the Orange Bowl (U12), Winter International Championships (U16), Prince Cup (U18) and Florida State Closed (U18) ... won the Florida Super Series Tournament in 2006 (U18) ... won the consolation bracket at the Florida Designated Tournament in 2006 (U18) ... earned numerous rankings throughout his career, including No. 8 (U10), top 20 (U12), top 100 (U14) and No. 46 (U18), in addition to a No. 455 national ranking (U18).

Personal: Born on Sept. 29, 1988, in Santiago, Chile ... son of Jessica and Rodrigo Escarate, who now reside in Miami ... has an older brother, Rodrigo ... his cousin, Eugenia Carolina Escarate, played tennis at Florida International University ... majoring in communications ... is left-handed ... lists the person in history he would most like to meet at Augusto Pinochet ... lists his biggest superstition as wearing his bracelets everywhere he goes ... lists future goals as winning an NCAA championship and trying to go pro in tennis.
