JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida split a pair of home matches at UNF Tennis Complex on Friday. 

North Florida swept Bellarmine, 7-0, to open action before it fell, 4-3, in a back-and-forth match with Rider. The Ospreys have won three of their last four matches and improve to 3-0 in ASUN matches this season. 

North Florida clinched the doubles point over both opponents with victories at the one and three lines.

In the first match with Bellarmine, freshman tandem Lorenzo Messina and Gianluca Filoramo earned a 6-2 win at the third spot before the point was clinched with a 6-4 win from junior Andreas Scott and sixth year Bruno Vietri at the one position. In singles action against the Knights, the Ospreys maintained their momentum with straight-set wins on five of six singles courts. Sophomore Chase Healey earned his fourth-straight win with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the five spot and Vietri added a 6-2, 6-2, win in the two line to extend the lead. Next to finish was Messina who turned in a 7-5, 6-2 win at six. 

Freshman Youssef Labbene notched a 6-1, 6-4 win on three and freshman Jean Deloziere posted a 6-4, 7-5 win at the four line. Scott took the 10-point tiebreaker at the top court, 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-4), to secure the clean sheet win. 

In the second match with Rider, Deloziere and junior Spencer Dorosheff made quick work at the three line with a 6-1 win, while the doubles point was secured when Messina and Filoramo turned in a 7-6 win at one. In singles, Labbene extended the lead with a 6-0, 6-3 win at two before Rider took the next three courts. Healey tied the scoreboard with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win at the four spot. Rider added a three-set 10-point tiebreaker win at three to earn the win.   

North Florida continues conference play when it hosts Austin Peay at UNF Tennis Complex on Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m.
