2/17/2025 5:29:00 PM

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After a weekend series loss to Notre Dame, North Florida will visit FAMU for its first midweek game of the season. The Tuesday matchup will be the first of 24 away games for the Ospreys on the 2025 schedule. UNF and the Rattlers have met 33 times previously in history, with 14 taking place at Moore-Kittles Field.

Last Time Out
North Florida split a doubleheader with Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 15. In game one the Ospreys got out to an early 3-0 lead against the Fighting Irish. The bullpen struggled in the later innings as Notre Dame defeated UNF 19-6. In game two, the Osprey bats made adjustments and scored a season-high eight runs. Finn Howell hit his first collegiate home run and Carter White had two RBIs as UNF defeated the Fighting Irish 8-1 for their first win of the '25 season.

Scouting FAMU
The Rattlers are fresh off a series loss to UT Martin and are searching for a .500 home stand with a win. FAMU hit .195 in their last series, but got strong offensive performances from Ben Kim and Josue Figueroa. Both players hit over .400 and they combined to slug three of the Rattlers four home runs this season. Opening night starter Caleb Granger tossed seven innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts and FAMU got solid relief outings out of Cody Williams and Cameron King.

Freshman Phenoms
Freshman pitchers Jackson Bellhorn and Bryson Treichel both impressed in their individual relief outings against Notre Dame. Bellhorn made his debut on opening night, working three and two-thirds innings while striking out two and not allowing a run. Treichel pitched two games later in the series final. The DeLand native tossed three scoreless innings and recorded a team-high five strikeouts against the Fighting Irish. In total, five different true freshmen made their debuts in the first weekend series for UNF.

Series History
North Florida has dominated the all-time series against FAMU, winning 30 of the 33 games played. UNF is 11-3 at Moore-Kittles Field and is a perfect 19-0 at Harmon Stadium. Last season, the Ospreys beat the Rattlers 11-8 in Tallahassee, scoring all of their runs in the seventh and eighth inning. Seven returners played in the game, three of them making starts (Bates, Bush, Rodriguez).
