TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - North Florida Baseball dropped Game 2 of its SEC-weekend series at Alabama, 9-3, at Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Saturday.

Junior outfielder Gialdri Gomez notched his second-straight multi-hit game of the series. Gomez went 2-3 on a pair of singles with one run and one walk. It marked his third multi-hit game of the season.

North Florida wasted little time getting its offense going in the top of the first. Junior infielder Mathew Farner roped a base hit to left field. Farner then scored on an RBI single to center off the bat of redshirt junior utility player Boone Hosey to give UNF a 1-0 lead in the first frame.

Alabama answered with six runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Freshman outfielder Dario Romeo tallied his second hit in just his fourth at bat as an Osprey amid the top of the third.

Freshman infielder Drew Buchanan helped North Florida cut its deficit to 6-2 in the fourth with an RBI single up the middle. The Crimson Tide extended its lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the fourth frame.

Buchanan got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning to post his second RBI of the game while bringing UNF within four of Alabama.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Trevor Nikolis dealt 4.1 innings in relief and allowed just one run and one walk while notching three strikeouts.

Alabama plated a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh to bring the score to its eventual final margin.
