JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Bryce Reed and Megan Docherty have been officially added to the men's and women's golf coaching staffs respectively, as announced by Director of Golf Scott Schroeder on Monday afternoon.
Reed comes on as an assistant coach for the men's golf program alongside Michael Mattiace, while Docherty joins the women's golf program as a graduate assistant under Associate Head Coach Courtney Cobb. They each come straight out of the collegiate golf circuit with Reed playing at Kent State and Docherty playing at both Chattanooga and Rollins College over the past four seasons.
"Bryce [Reed] and Megan [Docherty] are good adds to the program, as both just played college golf and work hard on their games," Schroeder said of the new additions to his staff. "They should be really helpful this season, as we add more people to assist with player development."
Reed comes out of Kent State as a two-time MAC Conference Champion with a pair of NCAA Regional team appearances from 2021-25. He was selected to the All-MAC Second Team, the Academic All-MAC Team and earned his way onto the MAC All-Tournament team in both 2024 and 2025.
In both of his appearances in the MAC Tournament Championship in his last two seasons, Reed placed as the runner-up individual at 6-under par in 2024, followed with a third-overall placement at 4-under par in 2025. After four seasons competing with the Flashes, he finished 23rd overall on Kent State's all-time scoring average with an 18-hole mark of 72.23.
Prior to Kent State, he was a medalist over 12 times through the amateur & junior golf tournament circuit, where he was First Team All-Ohio Capital Conference and All-Central District in 2020. He was also awarded Player of the Year in the Central District and the OCC in 2019, where he won the tournament by 19 shots.
The Delaware, Ohio, native graduated in 2025 with his degree in sports management with a minor in marketing. He is currently pursing a professional career in golf while coaching the UNF men's golf program.
"I'm incredibly excited to join the coaching staff of such a talented program with a rich history and tradition," Reed stated. "It's an honor to be a part of a team that values excellence, hard work and growth on and off the course. I can't wait to contribute to the student-athlete's success."
Docherty started her career at Chattanooga, where she played in 20 events over two years and earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors in 2022. She finished among the top 30 individuals at the 2022 SoCon Championships for a career-high mark at the time.
Going into the 2023-24 season, Docherty transferred to Rollins College to play her final two seasons of collegiate golf. She was selected as a Second Team All-American in 2025 to go along with WGCA All-South Region honors and WGCA All-American Scholar recognition.
"We're excited to add Megan [Docherty] to our coaching staff! She has brought great energy and a competitive background to our team," said Cobb. "The players have already embraced her with open arms."
Across the 2024-25 season, the Glasgow, Scotland, native finished in the top 10 overall in nine of 12 events, including ninth in the NCAA South Regional, with all events played being among the top 16 on the player's leaderboard. At the end of May 2025, she was ranked as the No. 20 women's golfer among NCAA Division II schools with a stroke average of 72.60.
As a junior in college, Docherty represented Scotland in the Girls for Home Internationals tournament. She's also competed in the Scottish Amateur Women's Championship and the English Women's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship.
"I'm super excited to have joined the golf coaching staff. It's been a great experience working with the team this fall, and I'm looking forward to an exciting spring season ahead," Docherty said. "I'm especially grateful to Coach [Courtney] Cobb and Coach [Scott] Schroeder for the opportunity. I look forward to learning from them both, as I make my transition from player to coach."
