Box Score CORAL GABLES, Fla. - North Florida (1-1) men's tennis came up short against Miami (3-2) in an ACC matchup Friday afternoon as the Hurricanes defended their home court.
The race for the doubles point was neck-and-neck between the Hurricanes and the Ospreys. UNF lost on the second court 6-4, yet
Jonas Hartenstein and
Rodrigo Crespo went into a seven point tiebreaker on the first court.
Breno Marques and
Andreas Scott did so as well on the third court. Hartenstein and Crespo just barely fell short as they lost 7-6 with a tiebreaker score of 8-6. The final court was left unfinished.
The Hurricanes gained a 3-0 lead as Crespo fell to No. 51 Martin Katz in the third position, while Scott came up short against Nacho Serra Sanchez in the sixth position. Leonard Bierbaum won in two sets over Marques, clinching the win for Miami with a 4-0 lead. Antonio Prat defeated
Matt Carroll in two sets, while
Bruno Vietri fell in a ten-point tiebreaker on the fifth court. No. 21 Dan Martin won in two sets over Hartenstein giving Miami the 7-0 win.
The Ospreys return home to Jacksonville to host Georgia State at 12 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 before heading back on the road to face Air Force Friday, Feb. 17.
