Ospreys Win 7-0 Over Panthers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida (2-1) men's tennis dominated the reigning Sun Belt Champions (1-5) despite windy conditions Sunday afternoon, sweeping the Georgia State Panthers, 7-0.
In doubles play, Jonas Hartenstein and Rodrigo Crespo fell 6-2 to the Panthers, yet Breno Marques and Andreas Scott were able to win, 6-4, on the third court to get even. The decisive court went to a tiebreaker, with Bruno Vietri and Matt Carroll coming up with a clutch 7-3 win in the extra session.
The Ospreys kept the momentum moving in singles play, as Bruno Vietri secured a point as his opponent Edward Tymes retired due to injury. UNF took a 3-0 lead when Hartenstein defeated Roberts Grinvalds in two sets at the top slot. Crespo clinched the win for the Ospreys after earning the victory in a seven-point tiebreaker in the second position. In ten-point tiebreakers, both Scott and Marques defeated their opponents, giving UNF a 6-0 lead. Carroll beat Diogo Morais in three sets to finalize the sweep for the Ospreys.
