O'Gorman Takes Top-10 Finish in Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. - North Florida men's cross country turned in a top-three team finish in its second meet of the season at the Gans Creek Classic hosted by Missouri on Friday morning. The Ospreys finished ahead of programs such as Drake, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Baylor and ASUN-rival Lipscomb, finishing behind only Iowa State and Illinois.

Aidan O'Gorman was the top runner for the Ospreys with a personal-best 8k time of 23:51.1 to earn eighth overall among 231 runners. After falling down to 25th at the 3k checkpoint, he increased his standing by 17 spots over the last 5,000 meters to secure a top-10 finish.

UNF had 9 of their 11 runners place inside the top 100, including their top five among the top 50 individuals. Lifetime marks were also achieved in Missouri, as 10 Osprey runners now have a new 8k personal-best career time. The entire field was 237 runners deep.

FINISH LINE

O'Gorman took home his fifth-career top-10 placement in an 8k race after finishing as the top individual in the season-opener at the UNF Invitational.
Robert Pedroza made improvements as the race went on as well, moving from 49th at the 2k mark to finish inside the top 25 individuals with a time of 24:15.1.
Timothy Doyle ran between 42nd and 49th for the majority of the race before kicking into gear to grab 35th overall at 24:27.9.
Gavin O'Brien was the fourth Osprey to finish among the top 40, as he made a big push at the end as well to clock in at 24:29.3.
Aiden Arnold and Macauley Franks put together strong efforts throughout the 8k race to find themselves with top 60 positions.
Onix Ortiz followed right behind Arnold and Franks with his time of 24:45.0 good enough to land him 61st overall.
Missouri's Gans Creek Cross Country Course will serve as the Midwest Regional site in November.
