JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida cross country received four selections to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
Ana Markovina and Annika Buser were recognized from the women's side, while Ryan Douihech and Andrew Mahorner were awarded from the men's side. All four UNF student-athletes earned ASUN All-Academic honors for the first time in their careers with each holding at least a 3.60 cumulative GPA.
"The reason they are here is to go to school. The academic expectation is the same on the track," stated Jeff Pigg, Director of Cross Country / Track & Field. "They work hard and do their best. I'm proud of these students for their effort!"
It's the first time since 2016-17 that the women's program has received back-to-back seasons of multiple selections. On the men's side, they notched multiple selections for the first time since the fall 2021 season.
Both Markovina and Buser ran exceptionally in their ASUN Championship races, placing in the top 20 to be awarded Third Team All-ASUN honors on top of their conference academic recognition. Douihech and Mahorner were each part of the men's program that earned a top finish at their home meet, followed with back-to-back runner-up placements at both Florida State and Alabama.
North Florida will return to compete in the NCAA XC South Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 14, at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala.
