JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's cross country earned third among 12 teams in the ASUN Men's Cross Country Championship early Friday morning at Cecil Field.
The Ospreys were led by Aiden Arnold, who set a new program mark in the 8k race with a mark of 23:36.1. It's just over a 10-second improvement from the previous school record set by Aidan O'Gorman at the 2022 ASUN Cross Country Championship.
With Arnold's program-best time, he was the top Osprey finisher with a ninth overall individual finish to earn Second Team All-ASUN honors. Fellow seniors Cole Perry and Sebastian Hernandez both placed among the top 20 runners as well with times under the 24-minute mark, followed by graduate Seth Martinez in 23rd overall at 24:06.5.
UNF had stellar performances from its freshman group with two runners earning ASUN All-Freshman Team distinction. Alejandro Romagosa placed 34th overall with the fourth-best freshman time, along with Parker Banzhaf earning 37th overall as the fifth-best freshman time.
North Florida continues its postseason run at John Hunt Park, as they will compete in the NCAA South Regional Championship on Friday, Nov. 14, in Huntsville, Ala.
