HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - North Florida men's cross country finished its season eighth among 27 teams at the NCAA South Regional Championship hosted at John Hunt Park on Friday morning.
The Ospreys were led by Aiden Arnold's personal-best 10k time in his final career XC race at 30:24.46. The mark is among the top 10 times in program history for the 10k race, replacing his own mark in the 2023 NCAA South Regional meet.
Cole Perry placed just behind Arnold in 33rd overall with a time of 30:33.12 in the 10k meet. Sebastian Hernandez joined Arnold with a lifetime best mark as well placing among the top 50 runners in 46th overall at 30:56.60.
It's the 11th-straight year UNF's top runner placed in the top 30 overall, as well as the fifth-consecutive year that three UNF runners earned top-50 times. Seth Martinez, Alejandro Romagosa and Paul Lespasio rounded out six total Ospreys in the top 100 overall placing 71st, 88th and 94th respectively against nine Power Four programs.
As the No. 8-ranked squad in the NCAA South Region, UNF finished ahead of No. 9 Florida State, No. 10 Georgia Tech, Miami (Fla.) and Vanderbilt. They were the third-best non-Power Four team in the regional meet joining fellow ASUN school, Lipscomb, and Middle Tennessee State among the top 10 finishers.
"Aiden [Arnold] and Cole [Perry] continued to run well and led the way for us. It has been great to see their progress over the years. The men ran strong beating some very good teams. I'm proud of how we competed all season long."
