JACKSONVILLE - The North Florida track and field teams host the 2021 ASUN Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Visit Jax Track May 14-15. The field consists of men's and women's teams from Lipscomb, Bellarmine, Kennesaw State, Liberty and the Jacksonville women's track team.
It has been quite a journey for these kids as we finally line up for the ASUN Championships. The last ASUN Track Championship was in February of 2020. The effort has been amazing from our teams. Quarantine, online class, training by themselves are some of the only things that were consistent for them. They have come back stronger than ever.Head Coach Jeff Pigg
LAST TIME OUT - UNF Invitational
Men
- Freshman Tariq Lajoie set a personal record in the high jump with a mark of 2.05m, placing ninth.
- Fellow freshman Gavin O'Brien set a personal record in the 3000m Steeplechase in 9:27.24. Michel Normil had a personal best as well in the Steeple with a time of 9:53.63.
- Four runners in the men's 1500m set personal records, including Timothy Doyle (3:42.62), Robert Pedroza (3:49.97), Jack Anderton (3:55.42) and Onix Ortiz (3:56.68).
- Noah Perkins placed second in the 5000m, covering the track in 14:06.92. Junior Nathan Jubran set a personal best in the 5000m with a time of 14:09.00, placing third.
- In the men's 800m, Jared Vazquez clocked a PR of 1:50.26 to earn a Top 10 finish.
Women
- Junior Lydia van Dijk set a school record in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:20.33 and set a PR in the 800m (2:10.96).
- In the women's 200m senior Jenn Brunson set a personal best with a time of 24.98.
- Freshman Billie Castillo (17:50.04) and Raquel Lespasio (18:09.06) each set personal records in the women's 5000m.
