JACKSONVILLE -- Junior Kendra Hoffman netted a pair of goals and senior Thais Reiss collected three assists as South Division top seed North Florida bested No. 4 seed Stetson, 3-1, securing a place in the ASUN Semifinals for the Ospreys for the first time since 2012.

STET - 54' | Jackie Fiacco (Jordan Schaefer)
UNF - 68' | Kendra Hoffman (Ari Munoz, Thais Reiss)
UNF - 75' | Carmel Oliveira (Thais Reiss, Avery Sweet)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a back-and-forth battle for much of the opening 20 minutes
- In the 5th minute, Stetson earned a free kick but their shot attempt was corralled by UNF goalkeeper Mercedes Sapp
- Minutes later, Sapp again snuffed out a scoring chance as she caught a blast headed for the lower right of the goal
- North Florida struck first in the 19th minute when Haynes Grant raced down the left side line and crossed a ball to the middle of the box setting up Thais Reiss for a one-time attempt | She ripped a shot that hit the Hatter keeper in the chest where Kendra Hoffman was able to clean up the rebound and touch it into the net
- Ospreys looked to add a goal early in the second half but a low liner off the foot of Carmel Oliveira was scooped up the Stetson netminder
- Hatters netted the equalizer in the 54th minute with a goal by Jackie Fiacco | Jordan Shaefer launched a free kick from the midfield line where Fiacco was able to flick a header just over the outstretched hands of Sapp for the goal
- North Florida continued to attack in the offensive third and eventually got the match winner on a corner kick | Ari Munoz served a ball across the goal to the head of Reiss, who sent a ball towards the goal that was redirected perfectly off the head of Hoffman
- UNF added an insurance score in the 75th minute on a goal from Oliveira following a pair of perfectly played passes by Reiss and Avery Sweet through the Stetson backline
Â
- With the win, North Florida improves to 10-1-0 on the season
- Victory was the third of the season and fourth straight overall versus StetsonÂ
- Ospreys win their ASUN Tournament opener for just the third time in program history and the first since 2012 | UNF is now 3-6-2 all-time in ASUN Tournament

- Hoffman's brace marks the third time this season that a UNF player as netted two goals in a match | Hoffman now has three goals on the season with this being her first match winner of the year
- Reiss was part of all three tallies for the Ospreys, upping her season total to 5 assists (just one shy of the UNF D1 era record)
- Oliveira's goal was her third of the year
- Munoz collected her second assist of the season while the helper by Sweet was the first assist of her career
- Ospreys outshot the Dolphins, 12-3 including a 9-1 advantage in the decisive second period

- North Florida head coach Eric Faulconer has now led teams to double-digit victory totals in 18 consecutive seasons as a head coach
FAULCONERÂ TALES
"Really happy for our players. They deserved the opportunity to continue their season. Thought we played very well. The Stetson goal was a bit unfortunate, but I really liked our response to put the game away. We will enjoy today's win and quickly turn our focus to the conference semifinals."
- Head coach Eric Faulconer
