Eric Faulconer

Eric Faulconer was promoted to the position of head coach for North Florida women's soccer in November of 2018. He joined the North Florida women's soccer sideline in 2017 after 12 seasons at the helm of the Armstrong State University women's soccer program. He was promoted to Associate Head Coach for the Ospreys in 2018. The Armstrong soccer program and the athletic department were eliminated due to consolidation with Georgia Southern University during the 2017-2018 academic year.

During his tenure at UNF, Faulconer has led the program to an overall record of 47-32-22. His overall career record stands at 287-131-51 thru 24 seasons. He currently ranks 30th in Division I in winning percentage for active coaches. He has been selected as the United Soccer Coaches Region Coach of the year on six occasions during his career. Faulconer has recorded a winning record in twenty-one of his twenty-four seasons as a head coach.

Faulconer has led the Ospreys to several program best or first-time accomplishments. In 2020, the Ospreys recorded a 10-2 record, enroute to the ASUN South Division Championship. The team also finished with a program best USC South final region ranking of 6th. In 2021, UNF spent a program record six weeks in the South region top 10 and finished the season with a historical best top 100 RPI ranking. In 2024, the Ospreys recorded their first win over a Power 4 opponent, downing Miami 1-0 in the season opener. 

The Ospreys have also had an unprecedented number of post season accolades under his helm.  UNF has earned three ASUN Player of Year Award winners with Thais Reiss’ Player of the Year honors in 2021 and Mercedes Sapp garnering Goalkeeper of the Year that very same year.  Zara Siassi was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. Twenty Ospreys have been named ASUN All-Conference and every USC All-Region selection in program history has been since Faulconer’s arrival on campus in 2017, 14 total overall. Siassi earned the program’s first ever All-American selection in 2024, and the program had its only two Academic All-Americans Ari Munoz and Siassi under Faulconer. The Ospreys have had several players go on to sign professional contracts, highlighted with Reiss joining the Orlando Pride of the NWSL and Siassi signing with the USL Super League’s Sporting Jax.

In 12 seasons at ASU, Faulconer compiled a 172-55-23 record for the Pirates, leading them to the NCAA Championships nine times, earning three Peach Belt Conference regular season and three tournament titles, two NCAA Southeast Region titles and advancing to the NCAA DII Final Four in 2011. He is a member of the Armstrong State Athletic Hall of Fame, being inducted in 2017 and was selected to the Armstrong State University Wall of Honor recognizing the top 250 employees in the 83-year history of the institution.

Faulconer was tabbed to start the Armstrong State women's soccer program in 2005 after a successful stint at Thomas University, where he also built the Night Hawks program from scratch, beginning in 1999.

He led the Night Hawks to the NAIA National Championships in 2003, also earning NSCAA and NAIA Region Coach of the Year honors. During his last three seasons at Thomas, his squad was ranked nationally in the NAIA.

In his career, Faulconer has produced 14 All Americans, 16 Scholar All Americans, 67 All Region selections, 90 All Conference Selections, 6 Conference Players of the Year, 1 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, 1 Conference Defender of the Year, 2 Region Players of the Year and 2 Freshman of the Year. His squads have earned 23 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards.


In addition to his coaching duties, Faulconer served as the Interim Athletic Director at Armstrong State University from April 1-July 1, 2009 while also serving as the NSCAA National Chair of NCAA Division II Women (2014-2017), the NSCAA National Advocacy Committee College Coaches Representative (2015-2017) and the Region Chair of NSCAA Southeast Ranking Committee (2011-2013). He is currently the ASUN representative on the USC National Top 25 ranking committee. He has also co-authored three successful soccer training session plan books.

Born in New Jersey, Faulconer's family moved to Naples, Florida, in 1979. He graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1992 and a master's degree in public administration in 1996, with additional graduate course work in sports administration.

He holds a USSF National B License and also served as an assistant coach with United States Youth Soccer South Region 2003 Girl’s Olympic Development Program team from 2016-2019.

Faulconer has two sons, Zachary and Ethan. He resides in St. Augustine, Fla.
