Women's Soccer Earns Hard-Fought Draw Against Bellarmine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Soccer earned a hard-fought draw against Bellarmine, 1-1, on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Corporate Traffic Logistics Field at Hodges Stadium to open ASUN Conference play.
Threatening early, the Ospreys registered a shot in the second minute, and a corner kick in the eighth minute but were unable to convert.
After back-to-back saves by fifth year goalkeeper Sofia Miliancano, the Knights broke through with a goal in the 26th minute to take a lead into the half. Miliancano would go on to collect three first half saves.Â
In the opening half, UNF held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks and a 57 to 43 percent possession advantage.
North Florida would even the contest in the 85th minute off a goal from junior midfielder Taylor Tamares. For Tamares, it marked her second-straight contest with a goal and second collegiate goal.
Miliancano grabbed a crucial save in the 87th minute to preserve the tie for the Ospreys.
UNF held a 10-6 advantage in shots and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Overall, 18 Ospreys logged action with Miliancano, senior defender Zoe Looker and junior midfielder Sarah Frazer each playing the full 90.
North closes out its three-match home stand against Lipscomb at Hodges Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 27. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+.Â
