Preview: Women's Tennis Hosts Pair of ASUN Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida women's tennis team continues its ASUN slate and hosts Stetson and Kennesaw State.

Against Our Opponent
UNF leads the series 19-4 against Stetson, defeating the Hatters 5-2, March 22. UNF also leads the series 24-1 against Kennesaw State, winning the last match, 7-0, Monday.

Last Time Out
The Ospreys (10-7, 3-0 ASUN) are coming off a sweep against Kennesaw State Monday.

Taking Inventory

North Florida is 13-3 in the two slot in singles with Catherine Gulihur leading the way, 11-3.
Freshman Annabelle Davis is 5-1 in singles.
Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilo were ranked No. 70 in the ITA Division I Doubles Rankings March 25.
The ranked pair are 12-2 overall, 3-0 in ASUN in the one slot in doubles.
Constanza Gorches and Lucia Montano are 10-5 on court two in doubles.
In 2020 North Florida went 10-1, with their only loss at No.24 Florida before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ospreys are the five-time defending ASUN Tournament Champions after downing FGCU, 4-3, in the title match in 2019.
North Florida's roster features eight returners and two newcomers. Freshman Annabelle Davis joins the squad this year along with junior transfer Catherine Gulihur from Oklahoma State.
Head coach Catherine Dunagan enters her second season as the head coach at UNF. Assistant coach Ana Roman enters her second year with the Ospreys as well.

Stetson

Stetson (6-6, 1-2 ASUN) is coming off a 0-7 loss at FGCU Saturday.
The Hatters are 7-5 on court three and 7-4 on court five in singles.
Stetson is 7-3 in the three slot in doubles.
Last year the Hatters went 8-5 in the shortened season.
Head coach Travis Sandlant is in his fifth season at Stetson.

Kennesaw State

The Owls (5-9, 0-3 ASUN) are coming off a 0-7 loss to the Ospreys Monday.
In singles, Ji Youn Lee is 9-2 and Soomin Kim is 6-5.
Kennesaw State is 4-4 in the two slot in doubles.
Director of Tennis Matt Emery is in his third season at Kennesaw State.

Home Match COVID-19 Protocols
This season, due to UNF, ASUN and NCAA Covid-19 protocol, all spectators will be required to view tennis matches from outside the perimeter fencing at the UNF Tennis Complex. Sightlines will be limited by the windscreen that will remain in place on all fencing. All areas within the perimeter fencing including the areas between courts 1 and 2 as well as the tennis complex restrooms will be closed to spectators and maintained as a team-only area due to social distancing requirements. Spectators will be able to access restrooms at Hodges Stadium during all tennis matches. Admission to all matches is free and masks are required while on the UNF Campus.
