Women's Tennis Improves to 4-0 in ASUN Play, Downs Stetson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida women's tennis team dominated singles after initially dropping the doubles point to Stetson Thursday. The Ospreys defeated the Hatters 5-2 and improved to 4-0 in ASUN competition.

On court two, Catherine Gulihur and Annabelle Davis fell first in doubles, 2-6, to Brooke Milner and Katie Kubicz. Sean Lodzki and Florencia Rossi attempted to come back in the three slot, but were edged 6-4, by Noa Cohen and Anais Gabriel. Lucia Montano and Constanza Gorches went unfinished, 5-3, on court one.

In singles, Gulihur quickly downed Gabriel, 6-1, 6-0, to even the score. The junior transfer is now 12-3 in the two slot this year. Valentina Mariotto gave North Florida its first lead of the day, winning 6-3, 6-2 on court six.

The Hatters tied the score one final time with Kubicz taking Stetson's only singles win of the match. She defeated Gorches 6-2, 6-2, in the three slot.

The Ospreys pulled away with wins on courts four, one and five. Freshman Annabelle Davis edged Milner 6-4, 6-4 in the four slot. Davis is now 6-1 in singles in her first season with North Florida.

Lucia Montano clinched the match for UNF, downing Gabriel 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) on court one. In the five slot, Lodzki took Cohen to three sets, edging her 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, in the win.

North Florida hosts Kennesaw State Saturday for the team's second meeting this season.
